European Parliament doubts daylight-saving time

BRUSSELS, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Daylight-saving time is called into question at the European Parliament, which on Thursday adopted a resolution that asks for "thorough assessment" of the current bi-annual time change and a possible revision.

For years, clocks at the European Union has been put forward by an hour between March and October. But members of the European Parliament wonder if the practice has negative effects on human health.

The European Parliament calls on the European Commission to conduct a thorough assessment of the summer-time arrangements directive and, if necessary, to table a proposal to revise it.

The resolution was adopted with 384 votes in favour, 153 against, 12 abstentions. Enditem
