KIEV, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- A unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine positioned in the conflict-hit Lugansk region was shelled from Russian territory on Thursday, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said in a statement.

The Ukrainian border guard officers came under small arms fire at about 12:30 a.m. local time (GMT 1030) from the village of Ushakovka in south Russia's Rostov region, the ministry said.

No one was injured in the shelling and the Ukrainian border guards did not open fire in response, it said.

Russia has not commented on the reports yet. Enditem
