UN chief appoints Lisa Filipetto as head of UN Support Office in Somalia

UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday announced the appointment of Lisa Filipetto of Australia as Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

Filipetto will succeed Hubert Hudson Price II of the United States to whom the Secretary-General expressed his gratitude for his dedication and effective leadership of UNSOS, according to a press release.

Filipetto brings to this position more than 30 years of experience within the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade where she served in a variety of posts at headquarters.

The UN Security Council in Resolution 2245 adopted on Nov. 9, 2015 established the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS). Enditem
