French shares down 1.98 pct on Thursday

PARIS, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 1.98 percent, or 104.22 points, to close at 5,151.68 points.

A total of 35 of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.

STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer tumbled 5.70 percent, the top loser of the blue chips.

French luxury goods holding company Kering was down 4.17 percent. Legrand, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures edged down 3.99 percent.

French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe advanced 3.95 percent, the top gainer of the day.

World's leader in the Premium spirits industry Pernod Ricard gained 2.13 percent. French banking giant Societe Generale was up 1.95 percent. Enditem
