1st LD: 8 died, 3 missing in south China road collapse

GUANGZHOU, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people have died in a road collapse in downtown Foshan City of south China's Guangdong Province, government authorities said Thursday.

The accident happened around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday at a road section which is a subway construction site. Eight people were killed on the spot, and three others went missing, said the transport authorities of the city.

Another nine injured people have been hospitalized and are in stable conditions.

Cause of the collapse is under investigation. Enditem
