British stocks up 1.93 pct Wednesday

LONDON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 138.02 points or 1.93 percent at 7,279.42 points.

Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust soared 6.58 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Old Mutual and 3i Group rose by 5.43 percent and 4.47 percent respectively.

Randgold Resources, a major multinational metal company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.78 percent. Fresnillo, an international mining group, dropped 2.76 percent. Antofagasta, and the Chilean mining group dropped 1.45 percent. Enditem
