STOCKHOLM, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) --- Nine people were brought to hospital after two trams collided on Wednesday afternoon in the Frolunda district, western Swedish city of Gothenburg.

Out of the nine injured, one person was in a serious condition, police told Swedish Television, and several others were in a state of shock.

"We don't know how this happened but we will, together with the traffic companies and the police, investigate this to find out what happened," said Kristian Lans, press spokesperson for Vasttraffik, the local transport operator in western Sweden.

After the accident, police, ambulances and emergency services were called to the site.

There were disruptions to regular traffic and local transport system, with replacement bus services covering part of the disrupted tram routes.

Vasttraffik said normal services are expected to resume late Wednesday. Enditem
