LUSAKA, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- The Zambian government has expressed satisfaction that interventions put in place to tackle a cholera outbreak have resulted in a drastic decline in new cases.

Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya said the interventions have paid off, with the country recording 12 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing cumulative cases since October last year to 3,942 with 84 deaths. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Banks in Zambia have justified high bank charges being charged, saying this was based on the cost of their infrastructure.

Bankers Association of Zambia chief executive officer Leonard Mwanza said the association has received numerous complaints about high bank charges but noted that this was due to high operational and administration costs involved in running a bank. (News Diggers) Enditem
