MOSCOW, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Russian naval aviation will get about 50 upgraded shipborne anti-submarine helicopters by 2020, a Russian Navy spokesman said Wednesday.

Navy spokesperson Igor Dygalo said the Ka-27 series helicopters have shown high efficiency. While 20 upgraded choppers have been delivered, the rest are expected by 2020.

He specified that the helicopters will go to all fleets.

They are equipped with a modern information transfer system, a new search system to search and destroy submarines, as well as radio-acoustic equipment.

The Ka-27 and Ka-27M can conduct air reconnaissance at sea, provide anti-submarine protection and attack surface ships. They can also conduct search and rescue operations, and perform transportation missions in the far and near sea areas. Enditem
