NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks opened sharply lower on Tuesday amid a global equity rout, after the Dow plunged more than 1800 points in the past two sessions.

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 526.85 points, or 2.16 percent, to 23,818.90. The S&P 500 tumbled 47.89 points, or 1.81 percent, to 2,601.05. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 133.33 points, or 1.91 percent, to 6,834.19. Enditem
