LONDON, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- British actor Hugh Grant settled his phone-hacking lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) Monday, receiving a six-figure sum in damages, local media reported.

The High Court found MGN guilty of intercepting Grant's voicemail messages and masquerading as other people from 1998 to 2009 to get his private information unlawfully.

The star is planning to donate the compensation to Hacked Off, a group that campaigns against press intrusion.

More than 40 celebrities have settled similar suits against MGN. Enditem
