GAZA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli man was killed in a stabbing attack near Jewish settlement of Ariel in the north of the West Bank on Monday, Israeli sources said.

The Israeli channel 10 reported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended his condolences to the family of the Israeli man killed in the Ariel entrance attack on Monday afternoon.

Israeli forces paramedics said they tried to treat the man who was stabbed in the upper body on location but shortly afterwards, they announced his death from Beilinson Hospital at the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva.

A Palestinian assailant arrived at a bus station at the entrance of Ariel and stabbed a civilian.

Palestinian sources said Israeli forces were carrying out wide searches in the area close to the settlement. Enditem
