Over 1,200 arrested in gang crackdown in E China

HANGZHOU, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- More than 1,200 suspects have been arrested in a crackdown on gang crime, police in east China's Zhejiang Province said Monday.

Zhejiang Public Security Department launched a campaign against gang crime in November 2017 and started to investigate organized gangs across the province.

In a province-wide action on the night of January 26, more than 5,000 police officers were mobilized to arrest over 1,200 suspects, seizing about 250 guns and knives, according to the police.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council ordered for a nationwide crackdown on gang crime in late January. Enditem
