State Council appoints, removes officials

BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The State Council announced the appointment and removal of several senior officials Monday.

Wang Shouwen was appointed deputy international trade representative with the Ministry of Commerce, and Wang Yanbin was appointed deputy head of the National Administration for the Protection of State Secrets.

Zhao Min was appointed deputy director of the State Post Bureau, replacing Wang Mei, and Lyu Jian replaced Chen Jun as the president of Nanjing University.

Tang Dengjie was removed from the posts of vice minister of industry and information technology, head of the China National Space Administration, director of the China Atomic Energy Authority and head of the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence.

Liu Lihua was also removed from the post of vice minister of industry and information technology, while Zhao Mingji is no longer assistant minister of finance.

Sun Xianze was removed from the post of deputy head of the China Food and Drug Administration, and Zheng Jingping stepped down from deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics.

Zhao Heping was relieved of his position as deputy director of the China Earthquake Administration, and Zhao Xiaoguang no longer serves as deputy chief of the State Bureau for Letters and Calls.

Song Chaozhi was removed from the post of deputy director of the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation.

Moreover, Li Ke, Li Dongxu, Guo Yimin and Zhao Xiaoping are all no longer chairpersons of the Supervisory Board for Key Large State-owned Enterprises. Enditem
