SEOUL -- A South Korean appeals court released Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong Monday as Lee got a suspended jail sentence in the second trial.

TOKYO -- A Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force attack helicopter with two crew members aboard crashed near an elementary school in Saga Prefecture, southwestern Japan, the Ministry of Defense here said Monday.

PYONGYANG -- The efforts for inter-Korean detente took another step forward as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has decided to send a high-level delegation to the opening ceremony of PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, will lead a three-official delegation to the event, according to the official Korean Central News Agency early Monday. BEIRUT -- One Lebanese army soldier was killed and 5 others including an officer were injured during a raid the army launched late Sunday to arrest suspects in the northern port city of Tripoli, according to medical and security sources.
