Crocodile meat from Thailand seized in mail

Xinhua,February 04, 2018 Adjust font size:

HEFEI, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Dried crocodile meat from Thailand weighing 445 grams has been seized in a mail in east China's Hefei City, capital of Anhui Province, authorities said.

Dried crocodile meat is banned from entering China via mail, and the recipient did not provide sufficient legitimate documentation, according to the Hefei Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

Since the city started international mail exchange service in January 2017, the local Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has seized a total of 1,567 km of illegal items banned from entering China.

China bans animal meat carried or mailed into the country as it has the potential to transmit diseases. Enditem
