Sudan earn bronze medal of African Nations Championship

RABAT, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sudan earned the bronze medal of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco after defeating Libya 4-2 in penalty shootout on Saturday.

In the third-place play-off at the Grand Stade of Marrakech, the Falcons of Jediane took an early lead at the 8th minute thanks to Walaa Yagoub.

The Mediterranean Knights of Libya pushed since the last quarter of the first half to return in the result, but were only able to equalize at 84th through Salem Ablo.

In the semifinals, the 2014-title holders Libya suffered a 3-1 loss against Morocco in extra time on Wednesday.

As for Sudan, they were knocked out by Nigeria 1-0 in the semifinals on Wednesday.

On Sunday, hosts Morocco will clash with Nigeria in the final of CHAN in the financial city of Casablanca. Enditem
