Jordan hikes fuel prices in response to global oil price rise

Xinhua,February 04, 2018 Adjust font size:

AMMAN, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jordan has decided to increase the prices of several types of fuel after the rise in oil prices globally, state-run Petra news agency reported Saturday.

The new prices will go into effect from Feb. 4, according to a government committee formed to set fuel prices.

The prices of unleaded petrol 90 octane and 95 octane will rise 2 percent, while the price of heavy fuel will go up 3 percent, the committee said.

However, the committee decided not to raise the prices of household cooking gas.

Jordan imports about 97 percent of its energy needs annually. Enditem
