Battles kill 9 militant, wound 18 in eastern Afghanistan

GHAZNI, Afghanistan, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least nine insurgents have been killed and 18 others including nine Afghan security personnel injured in the eastern Ghazni province during government forces' operations against Taliban, a provincial government spokesman said Saturday.

According to Aref Nuri, the operations have inflicted huge casualties to the militants and nine insurgents have been killed and 18 others, including nine militants and nine security personnel, sustained injuries in Andar and Deyak districts.

Two weapon caches containing variety of arms and ammunition, including huge quantity of explosives, have also been discovered during the operations, the spokesman said.

Taliban militants haven't commented on the report. Enditem
