TRIPOLI -- Libyan navy on Friday questioned the validity of reports about a capsizing boat carrying 90 illegal immigrants off the coast of the city of Zuwara, some 120 km west of Tripoli, according to navy spokesman Ayob Qassem.
"The reports published by international organizations about a capsizing boat with 90 illegal immigrants on board off the city of Zuwara are uncertain and questionable because they are not based on accurate evidence or sources," Qassem told Xinhua. (Libya-Boat Crash)

CARACAS -- The ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) has elected President Nicolas Maduro to be its candidate in upcoming presidential elections, the party's vice president Diosdado Cabello said on Friday.

MEXICO CITY -- The U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, on Friday met with his Mexican counterpart, Luis Videgaray and they agreed to continue cooperation on bilateral security.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday discussed over phone with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the relocation of a U.S. base in Japan.
