1st LD: Two students shot in classroom at Los Angeles middle school

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Two students were shot Thursday in a classroom at Salvador Castro Middle School in the western U.S. city of Los Angeles, local authorities said.

A 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were injured in the campus shooting and transported to a nearby hospital, Sgt. Edward Bernal of the Los Angeles School Police Department was quoted as saying by the local KTLA television station.

The suspect, maybe a female student, was taken into custody. The weapon used by the shooter has been recovered by police.

A 30-year-old woman was also treated for minor injuries.

Live television showed there was a heavy police presence at the location and that the campus was on lockdown. Enditem
