ANKARA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Three people were slightly injured in an explosion of a boiler in the building of the Tax Directorate in Ankara Thursday night, authorities said.

The gas explosion occurred in the boiler room at the basement of the building in the Cukurambar district of the Turkish capital.

The building was almost empty except for security personnel at the time, Ankara Governor Ercan Topac told reporters.

A loud blast was heard in many parts of the city, and ambulances were dispatched to the scene immediately.

No further details were provided. TV footage showed many of the building's windows were blown out by the explosion. Enditem
