NAY PYI TAW -- A China-aided pilot project of poverty reduction was launched here on Thursday, with a view to improving the infrastructure of villages and raising the level of public services and self-development capacity in Myanmar.

The three-year project, which was jointly launched by China's International Poverty Reduction Center (IPRCC) and Department of Rural Development under the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, is implemented by the International Poverty Reduction and Development Center of China's southern Yunnan province. JAKARTA -- Anti-terror squad of Indonesian police has nabbed 1 alleged militant smuggling weapons from the Philippines and three other alleged terrorists in Central Java province.

One person captured in Banyumas town of Central Java province has been involved in terrorist network in the Philippines, arm sales and others, national police spokesman Mohammad Iqbal said on Thursday.

Three other alleged terrorists were nabbed in Temanggung town of the province, he said. (Indonesia-Police-Weapon Smuggling)

SEOUL -- Athletes from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) arrived in South Korea Thursday to participate in the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics, according to local media reports.

The DPRK's athlete delegation arrived at the Yangyang International Airport in South Korea's eastern region at about 6:09 p.m. local time (0909 GMT).

The DPRK delegation came together with South Korean skiers, who had trained for two days with DPRK athletes at the DPRK's Masikryong Ski Resort. (DPRK-South Korea-Winter Olympics) Enditem
