BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement Thursday announced that some 2.5 million Internally Displaced People (IDPs) have returned to their houses in the liberated areas from the extremist Islamic State (IS) militants.

A statement by the ministry quoted its minister Jassim Mohammed al-Jaf as saying that the Ministry of Migration and Displacement in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command (JOC), which is responsible for military operations across Iraq, "managed to transfer 2.5 million IDPs to their homes in the liberated towns and villages." RABAT -- The Moroccan security services have dismantled a terror cell made up of seven suspects over supporting the Islamic State (IS) group, the Interior Ministry announced in a statement Thursday.

According to the ministry's statement, the cell was operating in the northern cities of Tangier and Meknes. (Morocco-IS-Security Services)

ANKARA -- A total of 790 members of Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), People's Protection Units (YPG) and Islamic State (IS) have been killed since the beginning of Turkey's operation into Syria's Afrin district on Jan. 20, the Turkish military said on Thursday.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Turkish Armed Forces "carried out airstrikes overnight on the shelters, positions, arms, and equipment of the terrorists, destroying 18 more terrorist targets and neutralizing 78 militants," according to a General Staff statement. (Turkey-Military Operation)

LUSAKA -- The Italian government has provided 250,000 Euros (310,000 U.S. dollars) to help Zambia tackle the influx of refugees, a senior Zambian government official said on Thursday.

Ministry of Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Chileshe Mulenga said the donation was in response to a call made by President Edgar Lungu to the international community for assistance to refuges following an influx of refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
