3 dead, 5 injured in bus crash into crowd in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and five others injured when a bus crashed into the crowd waiting at a bus stop in Istanbul on Thursday, local media reported.

The accident happened in Uskudar district on the Asian side of the city after the bus hit another bus and lost its control, according to CNNTurk.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the bus was moving at a high speed.

"The bus hit three people waiting at the bus stop and ran another 30 meters before coming to a stop," a passer-by was quoted by as saying.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the accident, according to press reports. Enditem
