Approval rating for Brazilian president at 6 pct

Xinhua,February 01, 2018 Adjust font size:

RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The approval rating for Brazilian President Michel Temer is 6 percent, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The poll conducted by Datafolha Institute showed that 6 percent approved the Temer government, a slight improvement compared with the 5 percent in the previous poll held in November last year.

Seventy percent considered Temer "bad" or "very bad," down 1 percent against November. The share of people who considered Temer as regular was 22 percent, down 1 percent. Two percent did not have an opinion on the matter.

The government saw the slight improvement with optimism. Head of the Senate Romero Juca said rejection of Temer "tends to fall" and that Brazilians will benefit from the administration's actions "over time."

Temer, a former vice president who became president after his predecessor Dilma Rousseff was impeached, is expected to complete his term on Dec. 31, 2018.

The poll was carried out on Jan. 29 and 30, with 2,826 electors from 174 towns all over Brazil. Enditem
