AMMAN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Jordan said Wednesday it was following up on the killing, decapitating and dismembering of a Jordanian woman in the United States.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that it was communicating with the U.S. authorities via the Jordanian embassy in Washington to follow up on the latest developments.

The minister said the embassy received a letter from police authorities in the U.S. in which they offered condolences and pledged that legal action will be taken against the suspect, according to a statement.

In the statement, the Zghoul tribe condemned the "heinous" crime, adding that Sara and her husband "did not have any enemies."

They said they received with great sadness and sorrow news of the heinous crime that took place in Oregon state of the United States.

The tribe called on the U.S. authorities to quickly find the perpetrators and bring them to justice as soon as possible and urged the Jordanian government to follow up with the U.S. authorities on every aspect of the crime. Enditem
