Passenger recovers 6,000 USD in cash lost at Beirut airport

Xinhua,January 31, 2018 Adjust font size:

BEIRUT, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- An envelope containing 6,000 U.S. dollars in cash found at a Beirut airport was returned to its owner, the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) reported Wednesday.

On Jan. 20, a security officer at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport airport found the envelope left in the scanner at the terminal's entrance. However, no lost item report had been filed for the missing amount, the ISF said in a statement.

After checking surveillance cameras in the building, the inspection unit's security officers identified the owner of the lost envelope as a passenger traveling to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Security footage showed the envelope fell out of his jacket when it was going through the scanner.

After contacting the man and verifying his identity, the authorities returned the money to the owner on Monday upon his return to Lebanon, the statement added. Enditem
