NAIROBI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Wednesday.
-- Hours before the swearing-in of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga as the People's President, there was a private meeting at an exclusive club. At the meeting, one group supporting the oath-taking took time to convince the four principals to go on with it. Three principals chickened out and only Odinga decided to go on with the swearing-in cheered by thousands of supporters.
The government early Tuesday withdrew the security of the opposition chiefs leading to fears that made the three to chicken out from the event. (The Standard)
-- President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday jetted back into the country from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia hours after opposition leader Raila Odinga took oath as the People's President. Kenyatta then held meeting with his security team. (Daily Nation)
-- Communication Authority of Kenya officials on Tuesday switched off three media stations to block the live airing of the controversial swearing-in of opposition leader. It is the first time in a decade the government shut down TV stations. (The Star)
