5 killed as boat capsizes in India

NEW DELHI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and four others rescued Wednesday after a boat capsized in a river in India's eastern state of Bihar, officials said.

The boat capsized in river Ganga at Fatuha town in Patna, the capital city of Bihar.

"Today a boat carrying nine people capsized here, following which five drowned. Four people were rescued and immediately hospitalized," Avinash Kumar, a disaster management official with local government told Xinhua over telephone from Patna. "All the five bodies have been fished out from the river."

Authorities have ordered probe into the incident.
