German auto industry association says electric auto "not only solution"

BERLIN, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) on Tuesday defended the industry's advantages of traditional motor.

"Electric auto is a big solution, but not the only one. We still need internal combustion engine for a long time, including diesel in its most modern form," said Matthias Wissmann, president of VAD, at a reception.

Wissmann said the industry must be free to choose the best technologies, and "this is better than diesel ban or technology regulation." Enditem
