Spain's economy grows by 3.1 pct in 2017: INE

MADRID, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish economy grew by 3.1 percent in 2017, according to advanced data published on Tuesday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The growth is in line with the forecasts by the Bank of Spain and the Spanish government, but is 0.2 percentage point lower than that of 2016.

In the last quarter of 2017 the economy grew by 0.7 percent over the third quarter, 0.1 percentage point lower than the forecast of 0.8 percent by the Bank of Spain.

Spain's economy has been growing for 17 quarters in a row.

The INE will publish the final figure on March 1 when more information about the country's growth will be available. Enditem
