Ukraine begins mass production of troop command and control systems

KIEV, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom has begun the mass production of troop command and control systems, particularly command post vehicles, local media reported Tuesday.

Ukroboronprom's "Impulse" scientific and technical complex in Ukraine's capital Kiev has begun the mass manufacturing of SA-10U command post vehicles, which provides secure communications for the military units at the operational and tactical levels, local media quoted a press release from the company as saying.

According to Ukroboronprom, the SA-10U system, which uses a variety of communication channels, including satellites, is completely protected from possible attacks by electronic warfare devices.

The system, which has been already adopted by the Ukrainian army, is also suitable for being used by other military or security agencies of the country, Ukroboronprom said.

About 75 percent of components for the SA-10U were developed and manufactured by the company, while the rest were imported from abroad, mainly from European Union countries, it said.

Ukroboronprom, established in 2010, includes more than 130 enterprises from various sectors of Ukraine's defense industry. Enditem
