BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.99 percent to close at 3,488.01 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.65 percent lower at 11,278.78 points.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 3.89 points, or 1.17 percent, to close at 327.85.

A total of 3,892 shares worth 15 million riel (3,751 U.S. dollars) were traded.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market ended lower on Tuesday, amid rising U.S. bond yields.

At the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 stock index was down 52.6 points or 0.87 percent at 6,022.8, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell 52.3 points or 0.85 percent at 6,135.3.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday with the benchmark Nikkei stock index retreating for a fifth straight day as a negative lead from Wall Street overnight set the tone, with sentiment further dampened by reports that Apple Inc. will slash its production target for its iPhone X.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 337.37 points, or 1.43 percent, from Monday to close the day at 23,291.97, marking its lowest closing level since Jan. 4.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) retreated 30.45 points, or 1.17 percent, to settle at 2,567.74. Trading volume stood at 390 million shares worth 7.7 trillion won (7.2 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.64 percent lower on Tuesday.
