BAKU -- A blast occurred in a residential building in Azerbaijan's capital here and several people are believed to be buried as a result, local media reported Monday.

Triggered by a second-floor gas leak, the blast happened in a five-story building, which was seriously damaged, and several people were presumed to be buried in the debris, according to the local Azeri News Agency. (Baku-Explosion)

KIEV -- Nearly 7,000 Ukrainian servicemen are participating in the Britain-led Operation Orbital, a training program for the Ukrainian armed forces, British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough said Monday.

GAZA -- The situation in the Gaza Strip is on the edge of collapse due to 12 years of a tight Israeli blockade, said the Gaza-based National Corporation, a committee working to limit the impact of the Israeli blockade.

The group is calling on the international community and the Arab world to bear moral responsibility for the more than 2 million people who have been living under siege in the Gaza Strip for 12 years, it said in an emailed statement. (Gaza-Situation)

KABUL -- Eleven army soldiers and four assailants were killed Monday after the Islamic State (IS) gunmen attacked an army camp in western Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the seventh major attack in the country this month.

Some 16 Afghan army personnel were also wounded in the predawn attack, for which the IS claimed responsibility, said the country's Defense Ministry in a statement. (Afghanistan-Attack-IS) Enditem
