Three militants detained in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained three members of an international terrorist organization, who planed to create an underground terrorist cell in the country, the committee's press service reported Monday.

The detained persons were from one of the Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS) countries, respectively born in 1989, 1964 and 1965, the report said.

One of the detainees had been in the territory of Syria and was wanted for committed crimes, according to the report.

According to official figures, about 500 Kyrgyz citizens joined the fighting in Syria, about 70 of whom died in battles. Enditem
