BAKU, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- A blast occurred in a residential building in Azerbaijan's capital here and several people are believed to be buried as a result, local media reported Monday.

Triggered by a second-floor gas leak, the blast happened in a five-story building, which was seriously damaged, and several people were presumed to be buried in the debris, according to the local Azeri News Agency.

Rescuers have arrived at the scene to put out the fire and save the victims.

A similar blast caused by a gas leak occurred last Saturday, affecting several buildings near a metro station in central Baku, and at least one man was injured. Enditem
