Singapore stocks close 0.28 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went up 0.28 percent or 9.93 points to close at 3577.07.

A total of 2.33 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.32 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.01 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 238 to 208.

The STI index closed down 0.15 percent or 5.48 points to close at 3567.14 last Friday. Enditem
