SINGAPORE -- The Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) are at a crossroad of transitioning from competition towards cooperation, "in this we are looking forward to China's active support and participation," said South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-moo here on Monday.

During his keynote speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies Fullerton Forum held from Jan. 28 to 30 in Singapore, Song said the PyeongChang Winter Olympics would be a turning point towards peace and stability on the Korean peninsula. (Singapore-S.Korea-DPRK)

KABUL -- Gunmen attacked a military university in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan early on Monday, triggering explosions and gun fight, with unknown casualties, sources and witnesses said.

The fighting started roughly at 05:00 a.m. local time when one assailant detonated explosives in the front gate of the Marshal Fahim National Defense University. The second group of militants tried to breach and enter the compound, an eye witness told Xinhua.(Afghanistan-Attack-Defense University)

LONDON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said in a TV interview aired on Sunday that he would have taken a "tougher" approach to negotiations on Britain's exit (Brexit) from the European Union (EU) than the one currently adopted by British Prime Minister Theresa May.

In an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, who hosts British ITV channel's program Good Morning Britain, Trump said: "Would it be the way I negotiate it? No, I wouldn't negotiate it the way it's (being) negotiated ... I would have had a different attitude." (Britain-Trump-Brexit)

WASHINGTON -- Four people were killed during a shooting at a car wash in a small town in suburban Pennsylvania on Sunday, state police said.
