KABUL -- Gunmen attacked a military university in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan early on Monday, triggering explosions and gun fight, with unknown casualties, sources and witnesses said.
The fighting started roughly at 05:00 a.m. local time when one assailant detonated explosives in the front gate of the Marshal Fahim National Defense University. The second group of militants tried to breach and enter the compound, an eye witness told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Attack)

NEW DELHI -- Bypolls to two parliamentary and one assembly seats in the western state of Rajasthan began Monday amid heavy security.
Voting for the parliamentary seats of Ajmer and Alwar, and the assembly seat of Mandalgarh started at 8 a.m. (local time) and will continue till 6 p.m. (local time). The poll results will be announced on Thursday. (India-Bypolls)

SYDNEY -- Australia's New South Wales, with its capital Sydney, led the latest major quarterly economic performance ranking of the country's states and territories released on Monday.
