Tokyo stocks advance in morning on Wall Street's lead, solid earnings

TOKYO, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced on Monday morning following Wall Street's solid lead, while robust domestic and overseas earnings reports added to a positive market mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 117.45 points, or 0.50 percent, from Friday to 23,749.33.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 9.17 points, or 0.49 percent, to 1,888.56.

Oil and coal product, insurance and precision instrument-linked issues led those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
