DAMASCUS -- The rebel groups, including al-Qaida-linked ones, launched a fresh offensive Sunday against a key Syrian military base in the eastern countryside of the capital Damascus, as part of the rebels' determination to capture that strategic base in Harsta city, activists said.
The attack started when the rebels sent an explosive-laden vehicle, targeting the Vehicle Management base in the city of Harasta in Eastern Ghouta. (Syria-Rebels)

ADEN, Yemen -- Yemen's Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr called on Sunday for immediate cease-fire in the southern port city of Aden, where street fighting is taking place.
The Yemeni prime minister also urged the Saudi-led coalition and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to intervene to end the fighting taking place between the government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Aden. (Yemen-Aden)

TRIPOLI -- Two security personnel were killed on Sunday when gunmen attacked a security headquarters in the southern Libyan city of Sabha, according to security and medical sources.
A security source in the interior ministry told Xinhua that unidentified gunmen attacked the headquarters of the Vital Facilities Security Department of the Security Directorate of Sabha, and exchanged fire with security forces. (Libya-Attack)

BAGHDAD -- A total of four people were killed and nine others wounded on Sunday in separate gunfire and bomb attacks in the Iraqi provinces of Diyala and Salahudin, security sources said.
In one of the attacks, a tribal leader Sheikh Turky al-Nadawi and his brother, a lawyer, were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car east of the Diyala's provincial capital Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, Lt.
