KABUL -- Death toll from an explosive-laden ambulance detonated by a terrorist in Kabul on Saturday rose to 95, with 158 others wounded, according to a Public Health Ministry spokesman.

The latest figures showed that 95 people were killed and 158 others injured in the explosion which occurred near Sidarat Square, spokesman Whahid Majroh told Xinhua via phone. (Afghanistan-Ambulance blast)

MANILA -- Philippine authorities warned on Saturday of the risks of volcanic mudflow from the slopes of Mayon volcano.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a statement that heavy rains over the Albay province have increased the dangers of lahars flows or major channels draining the volcano's edifice that have been deposited with thick pyroclastic density current (PDC) material and ash fall. NEW DELHI -- Authorities in India's northeastern state of Assam on Saturday imposed curfew and restrictions after police firing killed two people and wounded eight others, officials said.

The indefinite curfew was imposed in the Maibang area of Dima Hasao district, about 265 km southeast of Dispur, the capital city of Assam. (India-Assam-Curfew)

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani army on Saturday started an operation to rescue two European climbers stuck on Pakistan's second highest peak in the country's northern areas, local media reported.

A Polish man, Tomek Mackiewicz, and a French woman, Elisabeth Revol, were attempting to ascend Nanga Parbat when they got stuck at the level of 7,400 meters, Geo News said, adding that the duo began their expedition to scale Nanga Parbat on Jan. 8, but communication with them was severed on Thursday.
