THE HAGUE, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- A seminar on the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held on Friday in The Hague, attracting dozens of Dutch officials, scholars and businessmen eager to know more about the future of China.
Li Xiaoxin, a senior official from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, gave a thorough presentation about the Congress held in Beijing in October.
At that key assembly, the Chinese ruling party updated its guideline with President Xi Jinping's thoughts and ideas on modern socialism and their application to the changing society. Xi is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Li's delegation started on Thursday a three-day visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD in Dutch), the largest among the party-coalition which won the legislative election last March.
On the new guidelines of the CPC, Li explained how China is deepening its reform to improve the management system and attain better and more modern governance.
Tom Zwart, professor of law at the Netherlands' Utrecht University, who told Xinhua that he appreciated the seminar, believed that "China has become a very important player so the decisions taken at the Congress have consequences for all of us."
"This is especially the case since the Congress confirmed the tendency of China to actively play a role at the world stage, which emerged five years ago and culminated in 'building a community of shared future for mankind'," he said. Enditem
