LASHKAR GAH -- One assailant was killed and three people injured when a suicide car bombing struck a security checkpoint in Afghanistan's southern province of Helmand on Saturday, sources said.

"The assailant died on the spot and two army soldiers and a civilian wounded after a joint security forces' checkpoint, Qari Posta, came under attack by the suicide bomber at round 11:30 a.m. local time in Nad Ali District," a provincial security source, who requested anonymity, told Xinhua. NEW DELHI -- At least 13 people were killed and three others injured after a mini-bus carrying them plunged into a river in India's western state of Maharashtra, police said Saturday.
