TRIPOLI, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based House of Representatives (parliament) on Friday called its deputies to hold sessions early next week to discuss pressing issues.
"In order to discuss the agenda items in next sessions, most importantly the amendment of the constitutional declaration, the referendum law, and the legal oath of the elected governor of the central bank, the parliament's speaker calls all deputies to attend the sessions on Monday and Tuesday," the parliament said in a statement.
The parliament appointed Mohamed Al-Shukri as the new head of the central bank in December.
The Tripoli-based Higher Council of State has rejected the appointment, saying the Libyan political agreement stipulates that appointment of such top posts must be approved in bilateral coordination.
The north African nation has long suffered a political division between east and west.
The UN-sponsored political agreement signed by the Libyan political factions in December 2015 is expected to be included in the constitutional declaration. Enditem
