French shares gain 0.87 pct on Friday

PARIS, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.87 percent, or 47.94 points, to close at 5,529.15 points.

32 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French multinational luxury group LVMH advanced 4.89 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. French luxury goods holding company Kering rose 2.64 percent, followed by French tire group Michelin, which gained 2.25 percent.

French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe went down by 0.57 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Engie S.A., a French multinational electric utility company lost 0.53 percent. French multinational automobile manufacturer Peugeot edged down 0.38 percent. Enditem
