ISLAMABAD -- A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter, while 31 others were arrested in various raids conducted in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Friday, local media reported.
The robber was killed in an exchange of fire with a police patrolling team in Ittehad Town area of the city, officials said, adding that the law enforcers also recovered weapons and looted valuables from the scene. Police also arrested his accomplice during the operation. (Pakistan-Police Raid)

BISHKEK -- The cold winter weather has caused the deaths of 15 homeless people in the Kyrgyz capital this month, local authorities reported Friday.
They were found to have died of hypothermia. There are currently four shelters accommodating the homeless operating in Bishkek, offering one hot meal per day and doctors' visits. The police have identified 239 homeless people in the capital city, according to the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek. (Kyrgyzstan-Cold Weather-Death)

KABUL -- A total of six civilians, all members of one family, were killed as a rocket hit a residential neighborhood in Qara Baghi area of the eastern Ghazni province on Friday, local TV channel Tolo reported.
