Xinhua,January 26, 2018 Adjust font size:

MACAO, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The government of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) urged the public on Friday to take preventive measures and get vaccinated against seasonal influenza after the first fatal flu case was recorded this year.

The SAR's first fatal case of influenza involved a four-year-old girl who have not received seasonal flu vaccination. She died on Thursday of influenza A infection complicated with pneumonia.

The Government Information Bureau said since Jan. 1, 2018, the SAR has recorded 15 cases of flu infection combined with pneumonia. Among them, 12 have been discharged from hospital and two are being treated in local hospitals and are in stable condition.

The bureau added that 13 of the 15 patients had not been vaccinated for the current flu season, therefore the SAR government urged the public to take preventive measures and get vaccinated. Enditem
