BERLIN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Bundesliga club Wolfsburg have extended defender Sebastian Jung's contract.
A statement released by the club on Thursday says the 27-year-old right back has penned a contract extension which keeps him with the "Wolves" until June 2019. Jung's new deal contains an option for another year.
"We are pleased that Sebastian stays on board beyond summer. He burns for a new start at Wolfsburg after injuries have stopped him in 2017. Now, he is fully recovered and will provide his part to reach our goals," Wolfsburg's sporting director Olaf Rebbe said.
Jung joined Wolfsburg from league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt but injuries have kept him on the sidelines.
"I have had a hard time but I kept going. Now I want to start again. I thank Wolfsburg for relying on me for the future," Sebastian Jung said on the club's official homepage.
Wolfsburg is currently 13th on the Bundesliga table. They clash with rivals and newly promoted Hannover in the "Lower Saxony" derby to close the 20th round of the Bundesliga on Sunday. Enditem
